Community Economic Activities

The community members mainly practise subsistence farming. They use elementary tools, unimproved breeds of crops, and poor methods of farming, which lead to poor harvests in most seasons.
These very traditional and basic farming methods are highly dependent on the region’s unreliable rainfall. This has kept the people in the community in a cycle of poverty.
Empower Uganda therefore aims to sensitize the community about effective modern methods of farming and animal rearing, such as crop rotation practices, use of organic manure, planting improved seeds and grafted crops, and artificial insemination for animal breeding, in order to help them improve their harvests and livestock productivity.
