Most community members have no access to clean water. They collect water from sources such as ponds and swamps, which are shared with wild animals and domestic animals.
Thanks to donations from individuals in Australia, we were able to establish a community water tank at the Mijjunwa Baptist Church and a second tank at the Empower Uganda School. All community members have access to this water, which has greatly reduced the spread of water borne diseases such as dysentery, malaria, Bilhazia and typhoid.
The tanks provide water for drinking, and the villagers still collect water from the swamps for other domestic uses. This calls for a more permanent water source like a borehole, which is quite expensive.
